A great weekend with fantastic weather for the racers who attended this first year event. Over 57 trucks competing and 500 fans watching the first diesel dragster into the 6's at 193mph! We had many different high-end diesel trucks from all over the US competing for $10,500 in purses.
Vendor alley included some regular sponsors such as AirDog, Diesel RX, High Tech Turbo with some new - DieselSite.com, Cyclone Diesel, Garrett/Industrial Turbo&Electrical and Silverline Exhaust.
May 17th the National Association of Diesel Motorsports hosted the Competition Diesel.com Invitational at Alabama International Dragway in Steele, Alabama.
Over 50 competitors combined for a record setting day with many setting personal best, as well as a new Top Diesel world record.
Dan Scheid of Scheid Diesel watched as his driver Bo Layne carried him into the record books as the first diesel powered drag vehicle to breach the awaited 6 second barrier on the _ mile. Layne drove the dragster to a record 6.93 seconds at 193 mph on their last pass of the day. An earlier pass of 7.11 seconds would become the NADM Top Diesel World record at 193 mph.
Darren Morrison of Pro Street Diesel would win the Pro Stock Diesel class running 8 second passes. Newcomer Phil Taylor from Garmon's Diesel would compete in and win his first sanctioned event in the Unlimited Street class, defeating Kevin Meredith of TS Performance in the final round running a 6.99 to the losing 7.56 of Meredith. Quick Diesel would find a final round between Brian Carter and Joel Greathouse of TS Performance, Carter would foul at the start and Greathouse would win running a 12.26. The ET Bracket class would be an all TS Performance final as both Greathouse and Kevin Meredith from TS Performance would face off. Meredith with a slight starting line advantage and running 6 one hundredths off his dial-in was good enough to take the win.
Dave Radzierez was on hand to provide car crushing action in the first LD diesel powered monster truck. The track kept the bleachers clear on that side of the track for safety reasons and had a firetruck on hand as a precaution. Since this has never been done with a diesel and at one of our events we wanted to be extra careful - it came off with great enthusiasm and the crowd loved it! The event also had the first diesel powered Funny Car of Texas Diesel Power and the diesel powered roadster of Chad Riley competing too. To round out the event, the Diesel Performance Motorsports mobile dyno was at the track running trucks.

Pro Stock Diesel
Winner - Darren Morrison - Pro Street Diesel Ran two 8 second passes.
8.90 at 138 was the valid one but on the messed up lights pass, I calculate a 8.40 to 8.50.
Runner-Up - John Robinson - Texas Diesel Power - Ran 10's on Friday, never made a pass Saturday.
